§ 3-8. Rabies vaccination.

  • (a)

    All persons owning or possessing dogs or cats, raccoons, or other members of the canine or feline animal family or any other animals capable of carrying or transmitting rabies must be vaccinated for rabies in accordance with Code of Ala. 1975, § 3-7-1 et seq.

    (b)

    All such animals subject to rabies which have deemed to be stray and taken into custody by the animal control officer shall be vaccinated in accordance with state law by a city authorized veterinarian, if upon retrieval by owner or purchaser evidence of said vaccination cannot be produced. The cost of said vaccination shall be borne by the owner or purchaser of subject animal.
