§ 9-6. Burning permit.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to burn within the city any garbage, leaves, rags, floor sweeping, tires, paper, boxes, wood, or other combustible material for the purpose of destroying the same, the combustion of which causes smoke or fumes or gases, without a written permit from the fire department. This permission may be acquired by calling the fire department and requesting a burning permit number. However, nothing herein contained shall be construed as prohibiting the burning of wood, coal, coke or other fuel in fireplaces or furnaces in private dwelling houses for the purpose of obtaining heat therefrom.
